THE PROJECT

The program related to U212A submarines is part of Italian-German governmental cooperation. Within this program, at the industrial level, the Group has entered into a cooperation agreement with the German Submarine Consortium for the construction of the units.
The submarines combine cutting-edge technological solutions and are constructed entirely with non-magnetic materials, including techniques that boost quietness to reduce acoustic signatures. In this context, the vessels are equipped with a quiet propulsion system based on fuel cell technology, capable of generating energy through the reaction between oxygen and hydrogen, providing a submerged autonomy three to four times greater than conventional battery systems. The submarines feature an integrated electro-acoustic system, weapon command, and control as a modern platform automation system.
