THE PROJECT

Ship Cavour has very flexible operational capabilities that allow typical aircraft carrier operations as well as vehicle and tracked transportation. It features a flight deck for helicopter and V/STOL aircraft operations and a 2,500-square-meter hangar/garage. The propulsion system is the most potent non-nuclear system developed to date (88 MW), featuring variable-pitch propellers designed and built by Fincantieri.
